Details of the Shop Revitalization Plan
 

If you have not visited the shop in a while, your donations are already being put to good use.

 
New Equipment Purchases and Installation

  • Purchased 51” sander, one of the widest sanders in the Upstate
  • Replaced Oliver planer with a new Grizzly planer. Removed and installed new unit. Sold previous unit for $3000
  • Purchased and replaced jointer
  • Installed a second miter saw, and placed on a mobile cart so it can be used throughout the shop
  •  Received donation of a Festool Trax Saw. Built new table and cabinet for this equipment


Electrical Upgrades

  • Installed larger electrical transformer
  • Relocated 10-12 circuits to provide correct electrical service to equipment

Shop Reorganization
  • Installed new cabinets with drawers for use by radial arm and miter saw
  • Moved panel saw 
  • Relocated dust collection and electrical work
  • Moved the 10” saw several feet to clear room for 51”sander (aka Big Boy)
  • Moved bandsaw group to provide adequate spacing between machines
  • Moved sanding group to provide adequate spacing between machines
 
Dust Collection Enhancements
  • Removed the current tunnel
  • Relocated the  fire sprinklers
  • Removed part of lumber room wall and installed new filter rack
  • Installed third dust collector unit in area vacated by panel saw
  • Contracted to have new filter rack built
  • Ordered and installed a third dust collector equipment
  • Designed, ordered, and installed new dust collector ducting
  • Installed operational lights for DC#3 (visible means of showing if motor is running)
  • Installed operational lights for the dust barrels (tells when barrels need to be emptied

Education Center Enhancements

  • Replace the education center cameras and upgrade the audio-visual system
  • Upgrade the auditorium lighting system
  • Replace education center microphones
  • Replace projectors
  • Increase capability for education YouTube videos and recordings
